Striking increase in number of female leaders
The Industrial and Commercial Workers' Union of Ghana has made great efforts to increase the number of women in union leadership positions.

As a result of a 3-year project they now have around 350 women in leadership positions, compared with 86 before the project began. This includes 15 women on the National Executive Council and 1 woman (Patricia Paul) in the union’s National Leadership. The union also has a policy that where no female is elected during the statutory elections, a woman must be co-opted and recognised as part of the elected executives.
