Manufacturing employment and compensation in China
Judith Banister, writing under contract to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, provides an analysis of the current rates of employment and wages in China's manufacturing industry. Published in two reports in Monthly Labor Review, Banister draws on available statistics and published data to estimate that "China's manufacturing employees averaged about 57 cents compensation per hour worked in 2002".
